You’ve got the celebrity branding photos underway, and now you want to keep up the momentum so your audience doesn’t start to drop off.

What’s the next logical step? Write an eBook.

eBooks have long been recognised as being a marketing catalyst for businesses. Just ask JT Foxx (those in the Family will understand). They give you credibility and people see you as an authority in your field. Being published is a brilliant strategy. You’ve got a story to tell or knowledge to share, and sometimes a blog just isn’t enough. It’s also a great lead magnet, whether you choose to sell the eBook or give it away free.

What’s your message? What is it you want people to know about, or learn from you? The content for your eBook will typically be based on your experience and expert knowledge. Don’t write about a subject that’s not related to your business or that you know little about unless you’re interviewing experts who will contribute to your book. Your readers need to know you’re being authentic.

eBooks are cheaper and quicker than the traditional hard-copy books. You don’t need to find a publisher either, so there are really no roadblocks anymore to getting published.

Now, let’s go through what’s involved to get an eBook from concept to finished.

  1. Choose the topic you want to write about. Make sure it relates to your business, and you know who your target audience is. ?? ?
  2. Be clear about the call to action you want people to take, both from the launch and the book itself. ?
  3. Before deciding on a launch date, allow plenty of time for the writing process and pre-launch tasks. ⏰
  4. Decide if you want to write the first draft yourself. If you do, that’s great! All you need is to set aside time to start typing (Microsoft Word is easy to use). ✍
  5. Decide if you want to include images or graphics throughout your eBook, and which ones. ?
  6. Think about whether you need a copywriter to write your eBook, or do the editing and proofreading of your draft. You want to make sure the final content is polished before it’s published. ??
  7. Talk to a web designer about designing the cover, and setting up a landing page for your eBook. ?
  8. Consult with your lawyer about a disclaimer clause to include in your eBook. ?⚖️
  9. Decide which format you want the eBook to be published in. PDF is the easiest format to publish, and Amazon Kindle is another option. ?
  10. In the lead up to the launch, start preparing your social media posts and press release (if applicable). ?
  11. And when the launch date arrives, celebrate! ? You’ve earned it! ???
